Attending family counselling together can help family members better understand each other as they work through difficult situations. When a challenge or illness happens, it impacts the entire family. Through family counselling, a family unit can better learn to support each other, improve communication, and find better ways to work together. Your therapist will facilitate dialogue to help each individual have a better understanding of other family members and the family unit as a whole.
We also offer consultation and psycho-education sessions for parents wanting additional support as they navigate their role in the family structure. A mental health professional can help you to better support your child or a person you are providing care to. The role of caregiver can come with challenges, like any other role. Caregivers may also seek parental consultation when a child is dealing with a mental diagnosis. A therapist can help parents to better understand the supports that may be required, cope with their child’s diagnosis, and how best to support them and advocate for their needs.
